Our story was unexpected and so funny to us. We first met when I had just moved to Tifton. My roommates and I were having a house warming party. Nick so happened to be there because his good friend was dating my roommate's best friend. We were having a great time face painting, playing music, and drinking. What I remember most of that night was his face painted as Batman, mine as a pirate and him eating a worm from a tequila bottle. Our next encounter was at a party he threw at his house a few weeks later. Funnily enough he was trying to get with my roommate and I was trying to get with his other friend. Luckily neither happened but we do have a few moments of victory from playing beer pong as partners. The defining encounter was at a themed college night at the Gin. We happened to run into each other at the bar and got to talking, dancing, and eventually kissing. The next morning he drove me home and I asked for his number. We hit it off right away! Three years filled with laughter, learning, love, and adventures later I am engaged to my best friend.
Nick and I had been talking more realistically about getting engaged since July but he would always say things to get me to believe that it wouldn't happen for another 6 months to a year (he was trying to throw me off his scent). Little did I know that behind my back he had already purchased the ring and was planning a fake baby shower for his sister-in-law to cover up the proposal. I had no reason to believe the shower was anything other than that until Nick called me over to the shed where he was standing. He said that his cousin had made a tumbler for me so I take it, complimenting how cute it was and turning it to see it all. Then I see the words "Future Mrs." I look up and see Nick going down on one knee. In shock, I said "No, you're not" Suddenly the shed doors pull up and I see all my friends and family and I immediately start sobbing. Nick gains my attention and he finally asks the coveted question, "Will you marry me?" Still an emotional wreck from the surprise of it all, I muster out a "Mmhh hmm" I never saw any of it coming and was truly taken back in surprise. My heart was so full from all the love and support we received from all our family and friends that day.
