We're Getting Married!

We almost counted each other out initially, after learning that our birthdays were just a day apart. However, from our first phone conversation that lasted over an hour, we both could sense that our connection felt natural. We began exclusively dating soon after. How we met: It's the 21st century. How else would we meet? Ha! The first date: Our first date was simple but perfect. We both were excited before meeting because we just "clicked" so well. We decided to keep it fancy and went to grab pizza. Yes, we said pizza... &Pizza Co., to be exact. We sat across from each other, eating and enjoying the company while talking as if we'd known one other forever. Minutes quickly turned to hours, and somehow it felt timeless. Even with the looming feelings of uncertainty, everything just felt natural. It felt RIGHT. We couldn't get enough of each other. From that day, we never wanted to lose what we felt. It was refreshing. It was easy. Ya' know that feeling you don't ever want to end? I love you: The words that we all want to say when we feel it but are too afraid to be the first to utter them. The crazy game of falling and loving the fall and being scared to fall too soon. But, Some things you just can't help. Some things you just can't control. Love is a flame that can't be tamed. Love is unpredictable and untimely. It's RAW. So, Who said it first you ask? Devin: "I will talk to you tomorrow, I'm falling asleep and about to head to bed". LaShawn *half-asleep*: "Ok, I will talk to you tomorrow babe, goodnight. Love you." Devin: *hangs up too quickly before processing what just happened*

The Proposal: We got engaged on Valentine's Day in the City of Love, Philadelphia. Our engagement was magical. It was the middle of winter but surprisingly the night was warm. We ate dinner at Barclay Prime, one of Philly's best upscale steak houses. The food was amazing! After dinner we came back to our hotel room, overlooking the beautiful Rittenhouse Square. The whole park was lit up with twinkling lights that we could see from our floor-to-ceiling windows that spanned the entire room. It was gorgeous. Just as this already perfect night was ending, it somehow became more perfect. Devin asked LaShawn's hand in marriage, along with a song from Boyz II mens', Wanya Morris to seal the deal. Blown away. After the tears came the YES! and the rest was history!
