Surrau Cantine
Absolutely gorgeous winery nestled in the hills East of Arzachena. One of our favorite date nights together in September 2023... a location as beautiful as the wines with an excellent Vermentino (staple grape of Sardinia) as well as reds and rose. Just 20 minutes from the wedding site! Reservations (tasting, dinner, & tours) recommended.
Spiaggia Bianca
Spiaggia Bianca, or "White Beach" is one of the main draw beaches of Golfo Aranci. Long and curved, this sandy beach overlooks the bright blue waters of the Olbia Bay. Calm and kid friendly, this beach is just 10 minutes East toward the coast from the wedding site. Spiaggia Bianca was just a five minute walk for us in 2023. Its satellite beaches and coves were where we sat and kissed under the sun by day and enjoyed wine and sunsets by day's end...
La Maddalena
This gorgeous archipelago sits at the Northern most tip of Sardinia. It's where we started our vacation in 2023. An hourlong bus ride North from the airport, you reach the tiny town of Palau. Then, the only way to reach La Maddalena is by ferry, that also takes on full car loads. After about 15 minutes you reach the small seaside town of La Maddalena on the island for which it's named. We took a daylong Vespa journey for two around the main island and also over to isola di Caprera, the next biggest island, which is entirely a national park and also has the historic home of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the father of Italian unification in the mid 19th century. We highly recommend! And if you rent a Vespa for the day, check the google ratings for scammers and wear shoes, not flip flops!
Olbia
The largest city in Northeastern Sardinia and the main airport/access point for the Emerald Coast - "Costa Smeralda". A Very historical town, it was an important port in the Roman period and dates back all the way to the appoximately 7th century B.C., when it was settled by the Phoenicians. Lots of great historical sights!
