We both attended an event for a close friend and started talking... LaMonda: As Don walked into our mutual friend’s home for an event she was hosting, I thought to myself, “hmmm, he looks familiar.” He approached me and asked if I attended Southeast Raleigh High School. We began to discuss our then jobs, and we exchanged numbers because we both were authors (he was published, and I was working on my first book). I didn’t think much of it until two weeks later, he sent me a “Hey, how is it going” text. A year or so passed; we shared a few texts/emails but nothing serious. Until Thanksgiving 2016… Don: She asked me to help out with things around the house that day. As chores were completed, connections were created. Then the winter holiday season came and New Year! A new year with a new love and a new look on life. LaMonda: Definitely a new experience for me. Every day, month, and year has been a blessing. If you know much about my dating history, then you know! LOL But, being with Don has challenged me to be a better and more patient version of myself. Don: Definitely a new experience for me as well. If you know my dating history and my mother… lol. Well, let’s keep moving forward. So, work, fun with old friends, new friends, and lots of new family on both sides brought us to June 30, 2022. Now, if you know me and how I give gifts and overthink things, then you know finding this ring took a little out of me. I found one that could do the job and asked the question. LaMonda: First of all, Don made me cry the day before my birthday because he told me straight in my face that he wasn’t going to propose on my birthday this year. So, when he dropped to one knee in front of my mom, his parents, and his grandmother, I was in complete shock! The ring! You all have seen it! That man did GREAT! 😊 It is a beautiful compliment to our journey together. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this man! Don: I am going to get on LaMonda’s nerves for the rest of my life and enjoy doing it. 😉
