"In the name of Allah, the most gracious, most merciful..." Hi! We're Laila and Nafiz! We met through mutual friends last year, and alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) here we are. If you've met us both, you'd probably think we're the same person. We share the same love of martial arts and fitness, but we equally as much love food and eating (especially Thai food!). We are the oldest sibling in our families, and we both have two younger sisters and a brother. We share the same values like Islam, family, and simple living. The bride is Palestinian-Egyptian, and the groom is Bengali so we're excited to soon have both hummus and daal at our family gatherings! The bride is a senior at the University of Maryland, where she is studying Biology and Nutrition on a pre-medicine track. The groom is a recent graduate working as a Project Manager. The bride is a practitioner of Tae Kwon Do, and the groom is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Only Allah knows what the future has in store for us both, but we ask that you kindly keep us in your duas (prayers) as we embark on this beautiful journey together. Jazakum allahu khairan, may Allah reward you with goodness.
"And We created you in pairs..."
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ “And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in peace and tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): Verily in that are signs for those who reflect” [Qur'an 30:21]
"They (your wives) are a garment for you and you too are a garment for them."
