LaCostia and Mark met the modern way: by swiping right on a dating site. Their first date wasn't the typical dinner and a movie. It was a quick hello to each other and Mark bringing LaCostia straight into the house to meet his mother for approval. After a warm welcoming conversation with Brenda, LaCostia politely excused herself saying "well I guess I better go outside and get to know your son now." After hours around a bonfire, Mark singing some Adele songs, some burnt food from the grill (he blamed it on getting lost in the conversation) they both decided this was definitely something worth giving another shot. On that day August 6, 2022 their story began. LaCostia always said laughter was the key to her heart, God sure knew what He was doing when He sent Mark Jackson her way. She has smiled and laughed more with him than any person could ask for. From the moment she heard his voice there was an instant connection followed by an unexplainable bond. Quickly thereafter that bond turned into a love that could not be denied. Mark was blessed to have two sets of grandparents that loved (and spoiled ) him very much. He speaks often of the love that both couples felt for each other and how he always wanted a relationship like his role models Billy & Eunia Jackson and Arnold & Jane Farmer. Mark's grandmother Eunia Jackson would always tell him when he found the right woman he would just know. He said he never thought that was possible until he met LaCostia. As two folks in their forties that have never been married, this union was sure to come as a surprise to many family and friends. It certainly came as a shock to LaCostia when she whole-heartedly said yes on May 3, 2023 when Mark got down on one knee, with tears in his eyes and proposed. The moonlight on the beach that night was beautiful and as if that moment wasn't spectacular enough, to their surprise fireworks began immediately after....making it even more perfect. Her entire adult life when asked when she was getting married LaCostia's reply was, "my daddy gave me a fine last name, no need to change that." But it will be with great honor that she will take the name Jackson. Thank you for reading Our Story.
