Those traveling from far away can fly into GRR, Grand Rapids' international airport, about a 20 minute drive from downtown.
There are ample uber/lyft drivers if you want to forgo car rental. This may also be wise, as parking downtown is expensive.

BUT! There are many hotels around the venue (see Homewood Suites, Amway Grand, JW Marriot, CityFlats Hotel). Hotels slightly outside of downtown are also an option and can be more cost effective if you don't mind a short drive.
