Our First Encounter

Ross and Kristy were both working at Methodist Dallas Medical Center - in different departments of course... Ross in anesthesia, Kristy in Interventional Radiology. Anesthesia was only occasionally involved in her department and one day, they briefly crossed paths doing a case, but it wasn't until weeks later on June 29th, 2017 at a work happy hour for Kristy's department at (ironically) Happiest Hour in Dallas in which they REALLY crossed paths and came to know of each other... As fate had it, both had gotten off work and dreading the Dallas rush hour traffic and a 45+ min drive home, both decided to sit in their cars at Happiest Hour for an hour waiting for this work-sponsored happy hour to begin for some necessary FREE cocktails after a long day. They had crossed paths and ironically ordered the same drink - a TITO's and soda - but Ross with a lemon, which intrigued Kristy as she was more of a fan of lemon than lime - so she obliged the same and it changed her world forever! A few more of those cocktails and endless and effortless conversation later, Kristy had managed to slyly obtain Ross's number to "invite him to future work happy hours her department hour puts on"... and as they say, THE REST IS HISTORY!

The Proposal

Ross and Kristy had planned on a California trip to Napa and San Francisco for her birthday August of 2018. Kristy got the time off and Ross planned an amazing birthday trip. First Napa for a day and a half, and Sonoma for a day. Gorgeous sunshine, views, and wonderful wine and food were consumed. Then it was on to San Francisco. It was very cold and cloudy and overcast but it didn't stop them from being tourists and exploring as much of SF as they could in a brief two days before they would drive down the coast of California to see Ross's family. On the afternoon of Wednesday August 15th after some sightseeing, Ross had planned a little picnic on Marshall's Beach at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. After the adventurous hike down to the secluded beach area, the sun FINALLY showed, and they tried to take a number of selfies with the bridge before Ross surprisingly dropped to a knee and asked Kristy to be his adventure partner for life! After of course saying yes, Kristy said she realized she hadn't captured any photos from her tripod throughout this - but don't worry, Ross had hired a photographer to be candidly present to shoot the whole ordeal... (A FEW WEEKS earlier he lied about his whereabouts and flew to SF to coordinate all this - that's a WHOLE different story that almost prevented this moment from happening at the time...) A stellar dinner on the waterfront at Epic Steak followed on the SF Bay. The trip continued to visit Kristy's friend Savannah in Pebble Beach, CA, then the long drive down the coast of California to San Diego County where Ross had coordinated a surprise "birthday" party at a family friend's house only to surprise all the local family and friends with this engagement! Oh and did we mention he flew in Kristy's mom secretly to be present for her "birthday" party.... Kristy not knowing a thing.... and he somehow planned all of this while living together and Kristy not finding out a THING.... WHAT A STORY!!!
