Kris and I met in high school. While we were just friends, he was my date to a winter formal. I thought nothing of it. He was a nice guy who made me laugh, and I was happy that he was going into the military like he wanted. Life continued on and we went our separate ways. 10 years go by and I'm living my life, running a bookstore, minding my own business, only to discover that Kris is in town visiting family. We meet for a drink, catch up, and realize that there's something there. Something that wasn't there before. He was on his way to Alabama to live near his dad, so we made the most of the month we had, and then he was on his way. I didn't think I'd hear from him again...but then he called. Like, immediately. Like, on his way to Alabama. We were on the phone almost the whole drive down and we were on the phone everyday for the next year. We knew there was a connection between us; something worth pursuing. So we dated long distance for a year to see where things went. Maybe we were better as friends, maybe it would fizzle out. We didn't fizzle. We exploded. It's 4 years later and he's the one. The one I cry to when my day is bad, the one I listen to when he has a problem. He's the one I dance with in the kitchen and fight to the death with in board games. The one to whom I whisper my fears and yell my triumphs. He's the one. He's it. Our love exploded into something amazing, frustrating, strong and whole. And we want to celebrate that love with you. You, the people who helped make us who we are and have watched us find ourselves and each other. We couldn't imagine doing this without you (although don't think that elopement wasn't seriously discussed). We're excited to start the next chapter of our lives together, and we're excited for you to witness it. We love you all.
