In May of 2018, Kristin and Jared met at Texas Lions Camp, where they would be working at for the summer. Texas Lions Camp is a summer camp for children with physical disabilities, Down syndrome, and type 1 diabetes. It was Kristin's second summer working there, and Jared's first. Over the course of the summer they quickly became friends, and eventually began dating.
