We met freshman year of high school (2010) being in the same English class. Junior year of high school, he asked me to be his girlfriend (2013). A highschool graduation, a puppy, a college graduation, moving to Charlotte, then moving to San Diego, and many other adventures later... here we are!
To start, I had absolutely no idea it was happening. Six of our closest friends from college flew into our hometown to spend the 4th of July weekend with us and our families. They had done the same the year before, so I thought it was going to be just like the year prior. On the 4th of July, I was so entertained being with everyone, that I hadn't even noticed Bryan was purposefully keeping his distance from me in an attempt to "not act weird". By this time, Bryan already had the ring for a few months, asked for my dad's permission a month earlier, and asked for my mom's the night before - none of which I was aware of. When we all went out the night before he proposed, he revealed to my hometown best friend Maddy, what he was planning on doing the next day. An hour beforehand, he also told all the guys his plan, so they could round up our families when it was happening. Bryan, myself, Maddy, our college friends, and our families all gathered at the Campbell's house for a 4th of July cookout. Maddy and I always take pictures together, so right before dinner was about to be served, she asked if we could take pictures with her and her boyfriend on the dock. As it turns out, she and Bryan had this planned all along... Once I got down there and turned around, it was only Bryan, her, and me. Bryan got down on one knee, while Maddy filmed, and our friend Jaime captured the moment from above with his drone. Many tears later and after I recovered from being speechless, I said yes! I was so shocked-- happily crying and shaking, but incredibly ecstatic. Turning around from the dock and seeing our best friends and family emotionally watching and cheering for us was the icing on the cake. Such a special day! We're so excited to celebrate our biggest day yet with you. See you in October!
