We were both sophomores at Boston College when we “first” met at a bar in Fenway called “Who’s on First.” Toward the end of the night Joey worked up the courage to ask Kristina to dance. We hit it off, and when Kristina went to add his digits into her blackberry, she saw that the contact already existed. “Joey Doren bc.” It remains a mystery when phone numbers were actually first exchanged - theories include a freshman year class ski trip to Montreal, or perhaps at another local Boston bar “Cantab” (best known for its leniency with a fake ID). Either way, that was the kickoff to over 10 years of memories together.
Joey made Kristina an offer she could not refuse. After curating a day filled with life’s finest frills - a massage, shopping at Bergdorf Goodman, lunch overlooking Central Park - Joey suggested taking the scenic route home through Central Park. We found a nice, peaceful bench in a part of the park that we like to frequent in order to enjoy the sun in our faces and the music in the distance. That’s when Joey “swiveled” onto one knee and popped the question, revealing the most beautiful ring Kristina had ever seen. She, of course, said yes.
