The Elopement

October 1, 2022

We were planning on a courthouse wedding, but our only day off together at the time was Saturdays. The courthouse is obviously closed on Saturdays, so the judge asked us where we wanted to get married. The very next day, the dad of the nanny family asked if Wayne and I wanted to use their rental beach house on a weekend coming up in the off season. You have to have at least two witnesses to elope, so we picked October 1 because my friend Amy was already coming in town. The beach house was available that same weekend, so alas! A short notice wedding was serendipitously born! We let our families know, they booked flights in a jiffy, and the date was set. It was a stunning 80 degrees and sunny day on Saturday, October 1, 2022!!! The day before and after were foggy and in the 50s, like typical coastal weather in October. We had the most dreamy day getting to spend our entire wedding day together and enjoying sunshine. Everything truly went perfect and was very "us." We shot gunned beers on the beach instead of toasting champagne and enjoyed a pizza and beer "reception" after the sunset ceremony. We loved getting married this way and it suited us so well! That being said, we want to party with even more of the people we love, and we can't wait to do that with y'all in August!

The Proposal

August 2022

We were almost one week deep quarantining at home while Wayne had the 'Rona, just laying in bed talking about our future together. I unknowingly set Wayne up for the perfect segue, because he rolled over to his nightstand and said "Speaking of..." and popped the question. This was technically the third time that he proposed but the most official, so he asked "Will you marry me-- officially?" I replied with, "Yes! Officially!" I told Wayne I wouldn't say yes without a cowboy hat ring box and he came through with the most perfect ring nestled inside the most perfect cowboy hat shaped ring box. It was the most perfectly us, beautifully simple morning. I was still Covid negative, so I quickly hopped over to the convenience store for champagne! The following day we hid out in the Columbia River Gorge at the top of a waterfall to celebrate. Getting to spend a few more quarantined days just the two of us with our exciting news was so special.

How We Met

Spring 2017

We met through my coworker and friend Rocky, who was living with Wayne at the time. Wayne was dating someone else so I didn't give it much thought other than noting he was cute. We spent time sitting around backyard campfires with our friend Rocky, but never really said much to each other outside of the occasional, "So... how's Trader Joe's?" "Good." "Cool!" And that was it! Until I moved back to Portland in the fall of 2020. Wayne reached out to catch up over some wholesome beers, and I had less wholesome intentions. The rest is history, as they say.
