Like so many millennials, we met on Tinder while we were both students at FSU. Valentine's Day was coming up, and Colton asked me to go get sushi with him. Keep in mind, it was Valentine’s Day, and Colton did not make reservations...so obviously the wait was over an hour. If you know me, then you know that I have absolutely zero patience, so we left. Colton looked at me and asked if I wanted to just pick up some Guthries (Tallahassee's finest fried chicken establishment) and some Blue Moon instead. And that was the moment I knew I would marry him one day.
In December of 2019, we went to visit my parents in NJ for Christmas. I had a feeling that he might propose during our trip, so I made sure to always be camera ready, especially on Christmas. But Christmas came and went, and we only had a few days left in NJ. We planned on spending a night in NYC, so my mom drove us to the train station. On our way, she suddenly took an unexpected detour. She drove us to “our spot” in Piermont (right on the Hudson River), and said she wanted a picture of us. So we got out, and I started posing, and then Colton got down on one knee. I can’t remember a single thing that he said to me because I blacked out, but I do remember saying the easiest YES ever! We are SO excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
