The Proposal

February 3nd 2023

A delayed flight to Las Vegas was not a great start for what I thought was birthday trip for Austin. We we’re ill prepared for the amount of walking and the freak cold spell that was going through, but we made the best of it! Austin had been smart enough to pack a rain jacket which I worn the entire time. We slept through dinner reservations and I walked enough in platform shoes to have a permanent scar. After buying new shoes and losing too much money on slots on our second day, we found a great brunch spot where I proceeded to show him pictures of this engagement ring I saw on instagram. He was not impressed, “yeah that’s a good one”. I assumed he was just annoyed from me showing him the 3rd ring of the day, not that I was showing him a picture of the very ring he had been carrying around in his pocket for two days! At this point I’m still clueless and we go back to the room to change into our “fancier” night time clothes. Our room had a picturesque view of the city, I stopped doing my make up to watch the volcano show in front of The Mirage. “Let me take your picture! It looks so good out there the lighting is great just stay like that” he trying his best to keep me from turning around while he sets up to propose. I eventually start realize he isn’t taking pictures and is being creepily quiet but whatever! fake lava is cool enough to distract me. He finally say something to make me turn around and he is down on one knee and is holding the ring I kept insisting he look at brunch. Typically in these situations I’m a crier ,but not this time. It felt like the first Christmas and all my birthdays in one moment! Boom! We’re in engaged after 4 years. We attempted to call our parents but as parents do, they don’t answer! So, we sent a photo which yielded a mass of phone calls asking if we had ran away and gotten married. To my parents wallets woes, we still had a wedding to plan and that’s where we’re at now!

For all the days along the way
