New Orleans receptions are not seated dinners, and there will be no assigned seating. They consist of passed items at the start of the reception, open action stations and buffets, with lots of food options, lots of beverages, and a highly dynamic and social atmosphere that allows guests to move freely about the reception space.
Bring your boogie shoes, because directly after the ceremony we're going on a second line! All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple and dance to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand for a short parade through the streets.
Cocktail attire
Of course kids are welcome, but know that during the reception, the alcohol will be flowing and adult music will be playing! We'd encourage you to have an adult date night. Also, no cranky meltdowns allowed, unless it's the bride :)
