The Haldi ceremony is celebrated with joy, hilarity, grandeur, and colour, much like any Indian rite! The closest family, relatives and friends come together on this auspicious occasion to apply turmeric paste (Haldi) on the bride and groom's face and body. Those who participate in this rite wish the upcoming bride and groom a lifetime of happiness and companionship. Applying Haldi is also associated to protect the bride and groom from evil spirits.

Mehendi

7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

From the bride-to-be, to all the females in the house gather together for a fun-filled evening and adorn their hands with henna design patterns. Tradition says the deeper the color of the bride's mehndi, the happier the couple's marriage will be.

Pellikuthuru, Pellikoduku, Snatakam

8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pellikoduku and Pellikoothuru are rituals conducted to declare the Man and Woman as groom and bride respectively. The bride is adorned with bangles, flowers and new garments. The groom is supposed to wear a holy silver thread. This is a kind of indication that he is now ready to graduate from the bachelorhood and wants to become a family man.

Sangeet

7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Put on your dancing shoes

The word “Sangeet “ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment.
