Wedding Party

Meet some of our people! We'd like to thank all of our family and friends who are involved in the big day. Nothing would be possible without your love and support.

Katie Kreis

Bride

How'd you meet Josh? In a videography class during college. He came in and sat down next to me, then tried to have a meet-cute. It was cute, but videography was also the class I was doing worst in at the time and I needed to pay attention. After a few study dates and dance nights at Joe's (and about a year and a half) I looked up one day and realized I wanted to make memories with him forever. Your fav memory with or fact about the groom: All the things. Hence, this wedding! And the first one! Because we're all going to be dancing, I'll share how much he loves to dance. He will make the thumbs-up gesture with both hands, shrug his shoulders, and jam. Be on the lookout–it's the cutest thing. One American thing that confuses you: Nobody hangs out in city parks. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? Cabs. They have a little bit of an edge and they're down-to-earth.

Josh Voigt

Groom

How'd you meet Katie? On the first day of one of our classes together I saw her, noticed the computer next to her was free, deliberately messed with the computer I was using, and conveniently got given the seat next to her. Your fav memory with or fact about the bride: We’ve shared plenty of special memories, but our trips home and to the UK to see family were the best. One American thing that confuses you: Katie If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? Grape juice, it’s nonalcoholic. :)

Megan "megnew6" Newbrough

Maid of Honor

How'd you meet Josh and Katie? I met Katie on move-in day our freshman year at Wartburg. We lived on the same floor—Vollmer 2—and were also in the same orientation group! Then I met Josh the following year (through Katie of course). Favorite memory with the bride or groom: May Term trip to Greece with Katie and then so many memories sharing a home in Waterloo with Katie, Josh, and eventually Luther! One American thing that confuses you: Does Ketchup count? Yuck. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? Probably Rosé because I’m pretty basic.

Phoebe Janisch

Sis of Honor

How'd you meet Katie? Like my sister, I cannot pinpoint any whimsical 'moment' when Katie entered my life, and I think that just about sums us up perfectly. 😊 Your fav memory with or fact about the bride: One thing that I have learned in our 23 years of friendship is that Katie and I will always drop our plans and go through extreme efforts to laugh and see one another for only a fraction of the time. A prime example was during our freshman year of college, Katie visited the University of Minnesota (where I did my undergrad) with her public relations organization. Although we visited one another throughout our college experience, this moment was last-minute and unintentional. However, we still fiercely coordinated and ran across TWO campuses to literally hug for a minute. This mentality has since crossed state and country lines, and wherever we are, I cannot help but drop everything and run - not walk - into a Katie hug! One American thing that confuses you: Why St Patrick's day is a bigger celebration for Americans than the Irish If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? A mulled wine: it gives a good reason for a gathering (like Katie & Josh!), comes with a little extra spice 🔥 & makes you feel warm inside when having a good conversation.

Erika Nelson

Twin of Honor

How'd you meet Katie? I met Katie through the DeForest Euchre Club (our parents played cards together) and we were fast friends after that because of family camping trips and our shared love for books and the Janisch clan. Your fav memory with the bride: Filming a parody of Twilight in old bridesmaids dresses when we were far too old! One American thing that confuses you: What is so interesting about American football? If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? Pinot noir with notes of sunshine and love for the bride, and a hint of nosiness. Goes well with cheese.

Sam Voigt

Grooms-homie

How'd you meet Josh? I met Josh when he moved into my house just after being born. Your fav memory with or fact about the groom: Sometimes we'd push my dad's couches together into a big bed and stay up half the night playing playstation. One American thing that confuses you: I recently learnt that hamburger patties are just called burgers. But hamburgers are also just called burgers. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? Something cheap and sweet.

Alice Voigt

Grooms-homie

How’d you meet Josh? I was born, and apparently he did it first. Your fav memory with or fact about the groom: When we were kids, we went on a camping trip up the mountains. I was still young and it was late one night, so Josh took me to the tent to put me to sleep (just the 2 of us). When he thought I was asleep, he starting singing the song "butterfly kisses", a song that brought me a lot of comfort and love as it was a precious memory between my dad and I. I just remember feeling very loved and protected with him because he didn't know I was awake, and was still going through the effort of sitting with me and singing a song he knew made me feel safe. He was always putting his best effort into making me feel like I had a safe space with him. Also, the nickname: Joshua Christopher Thomas Wobblebottom Voigt. One American thing that confuses you: The Imperial System... Feet, yards... These are not units, these are nouns. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? Rosé box wine: affordable, sweet like juice to hide the taste of trouble inside, and effects come out swinging after the 3rd or 4th round.

Ryan Keel

Groomsman

How’d you meet Josh and Katie? I met Josh on the rugby pitch in early high school. Tiny, scrawny Ryan up against giant, trunk Josh... I first met Katie in college when they began dating. Josh was giddy and bubbly when he introduced her, it was something I hadn't yet seen in him. Your fav memory with or fact about the groom: My favourite memory of Josh was in IB nearing the end of one of the terms. I had a few exams going on and the stress annoyed me, so I went to practice conversion kicks on the rugby field. I think Josh was going through similar stress, and we kicked about for about 2 hours talking nonsense and competing for the furthest conversion. It's one of my favourite memories from high school in general. One American thing that confuses you: Honestly, the thousands of USA flags flown everywhere. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? And why? Is whiskey wine? No? Then probably a box of barefoot...

Ashley Stapley

best aussie (usher)

Samantha Pfab

Officiant

How'd you meet Josh and Katie? I went to Wartburg with both of them. Favorite memory with the bride or groom: Honestly one of my favorites includes both of them. It was on a random winter day when we thought it would be fun to set up a makeshift "living room" in the middle of the woods and read books/stage a book club. KT and I sat and read and laughed and chatted and Josh took photos (of course). It was straight out of an Eddie Bauer ad. Besides that I loved my mems with KT hacking roots in Tennessee and of course getting crowned homecoming king and queen with Josh. One American thing that confuses you: Tuna noodle casserole. It confuses me but I also love it. If you could describe yourself as any type of wine, which would it be? Moscato D'Asti — sweet and bubbly!
