St Gevorg Mughni Monastery, Village of Mughni, Ashtarak, Aragatsotn Province 0205, Armenia
The wedding ceremony will take place at Saint Gevorg Monastery of Mughni, located in the town of Ashtarak, about 14 miles away from Yerevan. The Monastery dates back to the mid-1200s and was known as a cultural and religious center, famous for its manuscripts. The church was destroyed and restored several times throughout its history. The current murals decorating the Monastery are specific to the 1660s, with some sources attributing them to the famous Naghash Hovnatan, who was also the author of the decorations of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral. The church was constructed using the national stone of Tuff, giving it its unique red and brown hues.
