Want another beach to visit?  Go down a parallel peninsula and enjoy the sand and sun!

Popham Beach

One brewery of many, but this is one of the more famous of Maine.  Ask for other recommendations - there are lots in the area.

Allagash Brewing Company

Worth a visit if you like botanical gardens or want another kid-friendly activity.

Botanical Gardens Drive

Shops, restaurants, historical downtown Portland.  Ask for recommendations if you're looking to see Portland.

Old Port

Strongly recommend for all ages!  Cheap to get there and cool things to see, plus shops and some restaurants.  On the island there is a really cool abandoned WWII lookout and two Civil War Museums - all free.
