Our new adventure is about to begin!

I was a server at Main Street Pub in Portage, Michigan and he was a regular. I was done working a shift when the bartender, who is great friends with Kyle, introduced us. We spoke for a few months while we went about our day to day lives while hanging out when we saw each other at the pub. I got to know his friends and eventually became part of the group. After a few months went by, we really started to hit it off. He asked me out for a date and the rest is history! I was still at the news station and he was working at a nursing home. After a few months, he moved in with me and a couple months later, our lives brought us to Traverse City, where our new chapter began!

It was a rainy Saturday night in August. Kyle's aunt, soon-to-be sister-in-law, brother and niece were in town visiting his grandparents out on Old Mission Peninsula. We went to the house to visit them when we decided to go do our own thing. The original plan was to go visit the Old Mission Lighthouse, but because of the rain, we decided to just go out to dinner. For dinner, we went to Cracker Barrel -- which doesn't sound romantic but it is actually kind of ironic because Kyle started his cooking career at the Cracker Barrel in Kalamazoo. And little did I know, that he had the ring in his pocket the whole time! After dinner, we didn't want to go home -- mainly because all we would do is sit and watch TV -- so we decided to go to Turtle Creek Casino. After having some drinks and enjoy some gambling, we left to go for a walk. Well, unfortunately when we got to the park, it was dark and both of us had to use the bathroom, hehe. So, after discovering that the bathroom at the park was closed, we went to Meijer, bought a new board game and some food. When we got inside our apartment, my back was to Kyle and I turn around and next thing I know, he is down on one knee, holding a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. Unbeknownst to me, this was the second plan for the proposal. He originally was going to ask me when we went to visit my parents in Holland. And, apparently, the ring was hiding in my car for the past two weeks before this!
