Kirsten and Ahmed met on July 19, 2016, on Kirsten's second day at the Port Authority. Her desk was directly behind his. Over time, we slowly became friends. She attempted to flirt. He did not pick up on it. It was awkward. Fast forward to April 14, 2018, when they had their first official date to attend the wedding of their friends, Madeline and Julio. They've gotten much better at understanding each other since then!
Ahmed proposed to Kirsten on December 26, 2021. They went out to breakfast in downtown Madison, followed by a walk around the Wisconsin State Capitol (Kirsten's favorite building in her hometown). Ahmed very convincedly distracted Kirsten by pointing down a street (Kirsten was trying to figure out the parking regulations for the street), during which time Kirsten's best friend, Mackenzie, popped up on the stairs of the Capitol holding three dozen roses. Ahmed pulled out a 3D view finder from his pocket, which were filled with different pictures of them, and clicking through, each picture had a word typed onto it. It spelled out "Will you marry me?" Then he got down on one knee. She said yes. Pretty emphatically.
