Question

How does the accommodation work?

Answer

Everyone is invited to the wedding ceremony, banquet dinner, and dance party on Saturday, regardless of whether you are staying onsite at Camp Elphinstone for the weekend. However, we would love you to stay onsite with us for the full weekend and enjoy everything Camp Elphinstone has to offer! Accommodation at Camp Elphinstone includes a 2 night stay, in either the cabin or lodge-style accommodation, and meals throughout the weekend (Friday dinner through Sunday lunch). The wedding banquet dinner on Saturday night is provided for everyone regardless of whether you are staying onsite for the weekend.

Question

What is the accommodation cost?

Answer

The full weekend accommodation, 2 nights stay + 6 meals, is $153/person for cabin-style accommodation and $230/person for lodge-style accommodation. We will cover the accommodation costs for all kids under the age of 18. (If you attending only for the wedding ceremony, banquet dinner, and dance on Saturday, there is no cost!). We want everyone who wants to stay for the whole weekend to be able to. If you would like to stay onsite but the cost of accommodation poses a barrier, let us know and your accommodation will be covered. Additionally if you have specific accommodation needs, or any other questions about the accommodation, please get in touch. To pay for the accommodation, please send an etransfer to morgancassels@gmail.com with message “Camp Elphinstone accommodation” by August 1st.

Question

How to book accomodation?

Answer

Please confirm whether you will be staying onsite and which type of accommodation you would like via our RSVP form (see “what is the accommodation like” for details about the accommodation types). If your plans change, just let us know — accommodation reservations can be changed up until August 1st.

Question

What is the accommodation like?

Answer

Camp Elphinstone has summer-camp-style accommodation, i.e. cabins with bunk-beds! There are 2 types of accommodation — “lodge”-style and traditional “cabin”-style. Each “lodge” consists of 8 bedrooms with 4 beds each, a shared sitting area with a fireplace and kitchenette, and 4 bathrooms with showers. “Cabins” are traditional summer camp cabins — each cabin contains 12 beds and the cabins are a short distance away from a central bathroom facility nearby. The camp will be at less than ¼ capacity for the wedding, so the cabins and the rooms in the lodges will not be full. Generally families will each get their own cabin or room(s) in a lodge, and some friends will share cabins. Once everyone has RSVPed with their accommodation type choice, we will assign you a cabin or lodge room. All accommodations are heated and have electricity. There will be some additional washrooms/getting-ready facilities available prior to the ceremony for people to do their hair, etc.

Question

The temperature is variable at this time of year, likely between 15-20 degrees Celsius. -Raincoat and footwear suitable for rain. -Sunscreen and sun hat. -Bathing suit (if you are brave; the water will be getting a bit cold) -Active wear for participating in camp activities -One formal outfit for the ceremony and wedding dinner+dance. -Shoes you can dance the night away in! -If you play an instrument, please bring it! PLEASE READ SPECIAL PACKING REQUIREMENTS BELOW!

Question

Any special packing requirements?

Answer

To keep the camp bedbug free, Camp Elphinstone has a heat room. Bags are heated to 125 degrees (about the temperature of a clothes dryer) which ensures that any bed bugs in guests’ belongings are killed prior to moving into cabins. The whole process takes 2 hours. All bedding, clothing, and cloth bags must go in the heat room. Formal wear does NOT need to go into the heat room. The following items also do not have to go in the heat room: - Plastics, such as toiletries and cosmetics - Cameras and any other electronics - Medicines and medical devices - Aerosols or creams Please pack your formal wear and all non-cloth items (toiletries, electronics, etc) in a separate bag from the rest of your clothes. When you arrive at the camp, you will drop off your clothing bag and your bedding at the heat room. You can take your separate bag directly to your accommodation and return to collect your items from the heat room 2 hours later.

Question

What are the meals like?

Answer

Accommodation at Camp Elphinstone includes buffet-style meals throughout the weekend. Meal times and locations are listed on the "Schedule" page. Coffee and tea will always be available throughout the day. The Saturday wedding banquet dinner will be provided to everyone, regardless of whether they are staying at Camp Elphinstone. The camp will accommodate dietary restrictions for all meals -- please list your dietary restrictions in the RSVP form.

Question

Nearby shop or town?

Answer

Camp Elphinstone is not within walking distance of any shops or amenities. Please pack what you need for the weekend! If you are driving, the town of Gibsons is a 10 minute drive away.

Question

Is there childcare?

Answer

Camp Elphinstone can offer childcare for ages 4 and up. We will organise childcare during parts of the weekend if kids are attending.

Question

COVID

Answer

In British Columbia there are no public health restrictions right now. However, we want to ensure that everyone at the wedding is safe and comfortable. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend.

Question

Is the camp accessible?

Answer

All wedding facilities onsite are accessible without stairs. Since the grounds are large and certain facilities are far apart, transportation can be provided between facilities for those with mobility needs.
