We meet at an orientation meeting for a new restaurant we were both working at in Columbia, SC. After a couple months of eyeing each other over the bar, and Nick thinking my name was Ezra, we went out with a couple of friends after work and I finally kissed him. The rest was history.
Her side... Nick was taking me to brunch in Old Town Alexandria. We were a bit early for our reservations, so we decided to walk around. I started to get the feeling that something might be happening. We walked down by the water; he didn't ask. We walked over by the boats; he didn't ask. We walk into this amazing sculpture; he didn't ask. I started to get annoyed and yelled "Let's just go to the restaurant" because at this point, I thought he wasn't going to ask at all. But then he said my name and when I turned around he was down on one knee! After I said yes, my mom, sister and his family all ran out to surprise me and we celebrated the rest of the day. It was a dream. His side... I had been planning the proposal for weeks. I knew how much it would mean to her to have her mom and sister there. When the day came we headed to the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria. I was nervous. We walked along the water and I tried to discreetly look for our families, as I was having everyone meet us there for brunch afterwards. She knew something was up though and I could tell she was getting a little annoyed. We passed by of these beautiful locations but, I wanted to make sure our families were around for when it happened. Finally, after we looked at the sculpture in the park, I saw our families. I knew it was time but my nerves grew because it was really happening. She started walking away from me and I just called out her name. As she turned around, I was down on my knee. Even with everything I planned, the only words I could get out were, "Will you marry me?". Seeing the excitement on her face filled me with joy and I knew right then that I was the luckiest guy in the world. I can't wait to call her my wife. We can't wait to start our new life as husband and wife with all of you! See you in March!
