We have Carroll Track and Field to thank for the start of our story. If you ask Grant, he will say the first time he met Kimmy was working a football game concession stand was when he first noticed her. However, if you ask Kimmy, the first time she "met" Grant was at a track meet at UW Oshkosh (notably a few months later than Grant's perspective). After that track meet, Grant slid into Kimmy's snapchat best friends and they started their snap streak journey. It took a year and a half for Grant to move from the friendzone and win over Kimmy's heart by taking her to get ice cream on Valentine's Day. After a very successful track season for both, being each other's biggest fans and support system, we started "officially" dating April 5th, 2017. Throughout our relationship, we have lived many places together (Hartford, Sun Prairie, Waterloo) and even ended up living with both of our parents during our journey. Fast forward 5 years, and Grant {finally} planned the most perfect proposal. Kimmy always told Grant that the family cabin in Minocqua was her little slice of heaven; he knew this was where he had to pop the question. After planning for nearly 6 months, the weekend to ask finally arrived. Kimmy unintentionally tried to delay the surprise by getting COVID the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. As friends and family had gathered for the weekend, pushing out this surprise was not an option. Grant ended up proposing to Kimmy on the pontoon boat just off the dock to her surprise. Bottles of champagne and heart shaped cheesecakes were waiting on shore along with friends and family at the ready, all waiting to celebrate Kimmy and Grant starting the rest of their lives together. We are so excited for what the rest of our journey has in store for us. This wedding has been anticipated by many, and both of us cannot wait to be surrounded by all of our loving friends and family to help us celebrate this marriage.
