The gate code will be 0813 (think of the wedding date August 13th!)
If you enter "Pamplin Grove" into your GPS, it should come up as "Van Duzen County Park-Pamplin Grove". The GPS should take you directly to the campground. Driving from the 101, you take exit 685 for CA-36E. You will take this highway another 11 miles, and then there will be a turn off on the right with a wooden sign that says "Pamplin Grove". There will be neon signs that say "Kimiquoyah" when you are getting close to the destination and directly at the turn off. **When you turn right off CA-36E, there is a small access road that comes to a locked gate. We will be sending you an email with the gate code 1 week before the wedding. If you do not have the code, pull you car over to the side and park. You will need to walk in less than 1/4 mile to get to the campground and ask someone for the code.**
We have tried to eliminate a lot of factors by having the wedding outdoors. Please plan on taking a COVID tests within 24 hours of arrival to the campground. Masks and social distancing will be optional. We will have spaces at the ceremony and reception for people to social distance if they feel more comfortable. We absolutely understand if you need to cancel at any point. Your safety is the most important thing to us.
No! While we think that Pamplin Grove is one of the most epic camping spots ever, we absolutely understand that some of our guests are not campers. We encourage you come hang out during the day at the campground. If you would like to stay close to the campground, we recommend looking into Fortuna and Ferndale. If you would like to check out more places in Humboldt, then Arcata, Eureka, or Trinidad are nice options.
If you are traveling from faraway or by plane and do not have camping gear, we will help set you up with the necessities. Contact Kimi (208) 596-9360 at least a month before the wedding and inform her that you need camping gear.
The campground is in an old growth redwood forest with river access. The campground can accommodate 100+ people. The facilities include an outdoor kitchen with stove and sink (but no cooking utensils or pots/pans), port-a-potties, and showers that you can drive to. RVs are allowed but there are no hook ups. **Cell phone reception is not available or very limited at the campground**
Items for camping: tents, chairs, sleeping mats, sleeping bags, flashlights, bathing suits, portable stove, water, toiletries, mosquito repellent, warm clothes for night, firewood (gathering wood at the campsite is not allowed), cooking items, coins (for showering), and 3 days worth of food and beverages. We will be providing dinner and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) after the ceremony on August 13th. There is a Safeway in Fortuna ~20 minutes from the campground. *We have offerings throughout the week (look at the schedule page) so you may want to bring a yoga mat, poi, musical instruments, etc.*
Kid friendly dogs are allowed, but we recommend that you check in with us about algae conditions before you arrive. During dry years blue green algae can bloom in our local rivers and it is extremely dangerous to dogs who tend to drink directly from the river. Dogs should be very closely supervised while near the river if algae is present. Dogs must be leashed the entire time they are on the campground.
Since we are camping, we expect our guests to dress casual at the wedding ceremony. Feel free to dress up if you feel like it but no pressure. You will find that Humboldt is a very informal place!
You can find our registry on this website under the "registry" tab. Donations to our next epic adventure would be appreciated if it brings you joy to contribute, however it is completely unnecessary or expected for you to do so. If you absolutely want to do something and financial gifts don’t spark joy, then a handmade gift or some other gift of the heart would be treasured.
There is tons of parking at the campground, so it should not be a problem for you to find parking.
Buffet style food will be provided for dinner, and there will be gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. Please indicate your food preference when you RSVP.
We have a 10% discount at Humboldt Bay Social Club (~45 minutes from the campground). Call to book and say that you are with the Faulk wedding party to receive the discount. We recommend AirBnb in Fortuna or Ferndale (~20 minutes from the campground) if you would like to stay somewhere closer. The closest town is Carlotta (~10 minutes from the campground), but lodging is limited there.
Yes, children are invited. This will be a family friendly event. *Safety precautions for small children* Blue green algae can sometimes bloom in our local rivers at the end of the summer, and it can be deadly to small children who may accidentally ingest the algae when playing in the water. Small children should be closely monitored if algae is present.
