We met at dinner with friends the first weekend Caroline lived in Atlanta. Matthew knew he wanted to get to know Caroline better, and planned a date for drinks on a patio that week. Halfway through the first drink we noticed some rain clouds and felt a few drops, but wanted to enjoy the outdoors and were convinced it was going to pass. Shortly after, the sky unleashed and we ran for cover inside the restaurant, deciding to extend the date to dinner. That night we connected over our love for travel, food, hiking, and thoughtful conversation. The last couple of years together have been filled with adventure and laughter - from bike rides to the farmers market to dancing the night away at weddings - we find that life is better when we do it together. We can't wait to start this next chapter of our story!
Matthew knew he wanted to propose in an intimate environment with space to enjoy the moment and celebrate the life we had already began building together. When we made the decision to purchase our first home together he knew that was it! A new beginning, in a new home, with a new commitment to spend our lives together. But now how to add that special touch for such an occasion. While Caroline was out of town, Matthew transformed the first floor of the empty house with balloons and flowers and candles and a hundred photos of our relationship. When Caroline walked in the door she was shocked exclaiming "what have you done". As she walked to through the house she met Matthew next to a flower covered arbor where he popped the question. And... She said yes! To celebrate we popped a bottle of Champagne and spent some time enjoying the space. We reminisced over the photos of our relationship, called family and friends to share the news, and enjoyed dinner at the Optimist.
