Picture it, Atlanta, Summer 2018. Drake’s “Nice for What” is in heavy rotation, and I am on my way to living my best hot girl summer! I was wrapping up my latest online dating adventure and about to close my Coffee Meets Bagel account when a last-minute “bagel” popped up on my phone while in church. However, that bagel would have to wait because I am here for the Lord. I felt nice when I left church (it can have that effect on you), and I decided to see what this bagel had to offer. We messaged back and forth for a while until I decided to meet this young man for a date. So, we met at Jinya Ramen Bar for dinner. If you know me, you know I chose this place. I knew the food would not disappoint, and it would come out fast if I were not having a good time. Needless to say, the date was quick because I had other plans, but I was interested in knowing more about him. We kept in contact and started dating at some point (Sean might know, but I don’t). What I do know is that on September 19, 2020, he asked me to be his wife! From this point on, he is my noodle eating, dinner cooking, personal chef, fashion consultant, and amazing partner for life! His story is probably so much more thoughtful and romantic…oh well. We complement each other!
Our love story began on Coffee Meets Bagel in 2018 as I logged in to delete my account. Kimberly and I chatted through the app before I finally built up the confidence to ask for her number. The first date, Jinya Ramen, was strategically picked by Kim; it was close, familiar, public, and at worst, she would enjoy one of her favorite restaurants. Now that’s become one of our favorite places when it’s couch and movie night. Fast forward to December 2019, I began to express proposing to Kim, and the response was “we already know.” The Proposal Committee is formed, and I start to work with a designer to design her ring. The excitement and joy were something I’d never felt before! I will always remember 2020 as being the year I slowed down and proposed to my best friend. She knew it, and to me, it didn’t matter because the joy on her face was priceless! Every relationship will have tests and testimonies, moments, and memories, and I’m fortunate to experience it all with Kimberly. A man who finds a wife finds a good thing, and I am blessed to have met this woman. The foundation of faith, love, honesty, and patience are the pillars of our relationship. Our love story isn’t about perfection; it’s about taking one step at a time, every day.
