We’ve been a part of the same church since 2013 and talked maybe for a total of ONE time! Fast forward three years and we began building a friendship after a long night of dancing and getting to know each other. The next few months we went on a motorcycle ride, we sang in the car together, and laughed ALL. THE. TIME! After some time of being pursued, we began dating. We had our challenging moments but had such special, fun moments as well. Through it all, we saw God’s hand perfectly orchestrating our individual lives. He molded us into who He wanted us to be and who we needed to be for one another. Meeting each other was no coincidence. God knew what He had in store.
Dalton’s 6th spiritual birthday was to be celebrated and by his request he wanted to do a photo shoot with a photographer, who happens to be one of my close friends. I coordinated everything with her—so I thought—asking if she was available, what to wear, etc. The date, the time, the outfits were all set. It was suppose to rain; the forecast said it would for two weeks and I was convinced. We arrive to Zuma Beach to begin our pictures and there was NO RAIN! All God! The photo shoot was going well, having a great time. A couple of times, though, I thought “maybe he’s going to ask,” but I quickly brushed it off and prayed to be surrendered. The last time it came to mind I turned around and Dalton was on the verge of crying. I wasn’t sure if this was it but I also didn’t want to get my hopes up. We exchanged some sweet words but also shared some nervous laughs. Suddenly, he got down ON ONE KNEE! I’m pretty sure I said “are you serious?!” He then asked me to marry him and I responded with a “yes!” We hugged and shortly after, I heard my friends yelling from afar and running down to us. My heart was filled! I cried because I felt nothing but gratitude and God’s love for me! We finished our, now, engagement photo shoot and as we walked to the car, it began to rain. God perfectly planned this day for us. He provided. He knew. All praise goes to Him!
