Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Marek's amazing place of work! Public tours are high in demand, and not all dates are always released, so it can be a bit challenging to book. However, if you're interested, keep checking back!
The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens
One of Kim & Marek's first dates over the pandemic, The Huntington is an absolutely idyllic experience. Don't miss the rose garden in full bloom in May, in addition to some of the other-worldly plants in the desert garden. We recommend purchasing advanced tickets and getting there early to beat the crowds!
Eaton Canyon Falls
Eaton Canyon is a flat and very beginner-friendly walk/trail at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains; however, be advised to go early to beat the crowds on the weekend, and cover up as much of the trail is very exposed!
Echo Mountain Trail
For a more challenging hike, Echo Mountain offers great views of the city, and is not only where Kim & Marek shared their first in-person date, but also where Marek proposed. Be prepared for a continuous incline and exposed sun throughout the majority of the trail.
Pasadena Hotel & Pool
If you're looking to enjoy the weather with a day at the pool, the Pasadena Hotel & Pool offers great day passes through ResortPass (www.resortpass.com). Passes are limited so make sure to book in advance and get there early to claim a lounge chair, especially considering Memorial Day weekend demand.
The Gamble House
Another Pasadena favorite, The Gamble House is a masterpiece from the Arts & Crafts movement, a pinnacle of the iconic Craftsman houses found around Pasadena, and a must for art, design, and architecture aficionados alike. Tickets ($15) for a 1-hour docent-led tour are required.
Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery
A favorite Michelin guide restaurant in Pasadena and one of the places Kim & Marek celebrated their engagement weekend. It was also one of the many Pasadena hot spots used as a location in the TV show Shrinking! Make sure to get a reservation in advance if you want to go, as weekend dinner can book up a couple weeks ahead.
Handel's Ice Cream
Founded in Marek's hometown of Youngstown, Handel's ice cream is now one of the most beloved ice cream chains in SoCal. Those of you from Canfield will be happy to know you can get your fix at multiple locations throughout the area, and if you haven't experienced it, now is the time! Top flavor recommendations: Graham Central Station & Buckeye.
