Kiersten and Mark's love story began like most modern romances—sitting on their couches, staring at their phones, and swiping on a dating app. Mark worked up the courage to send a message to Kiersten and, after much consideration, came up with the ever-charming pick-up line: “New York bagels are overrated.” Kiersten was smitten. But then again, she was sitting in an N95 mask, swabbing people for COVID at the time. With nothing better to do, Kiersten responded and agreed to go on a date with Mark a week later. However, when that day finally arrived, Kiersten nearly cancelled on Mark because he was at a driving range and took too long to confirm the time of the date. Despite this minor setback, 4:30 pm at Village Whiskey was confirmed. Village Whiskey was just a few steps from Mark’s apartment in Philadelphia. Yet, Mark still showed up two minutes late. And in those two minutes, Kiersten already ordered, and started consuming, an adult beverage. Mark fell in love that day. A few years later—after moving from Philadelphia, to Wilmington, Delaware, to New York City, and traveling on the Amtrak everywhere in between—Mark proposed to Kiersten on a boat in Capri, Italy. Although the waves were taller than Kiersten, the boat captain forgot to take a photo, and Mark got sea sick shortly after, the moment was perfect. Kiersten said yes and, as they say, the rest is history.
