Our story started as a message on Facebook that I chose to ignore to locking eyes in our CrossFit class. From that moment I knew I was hooked. I was starting my Junior year of high school and still had no interest in having a boyfriend, or so I thought. I had received a message from a “guy” over the summer but decided to ignore it. Until I walked into my CrossFit class and saw this stud look at me and I realized, that’s the “guy”. It all happened very quickly for me, we started casually talking and I remember shortly after our first conversation going to my friends and saying “I think I really like this guy,” which for those who know me, know it was not normal. It may sound cheesy but from the first moment I saw him I got a feeling that I had never had before. On September 4, 2014, Dusty Lucas asked me to be his girlfriend, (ironically sitting on the couch watching CrossFit videos). I had never been so sure that I wanted to be someone’s girlfriend. About 4 years later New Year's Eve, December 31, 2018, Dusty asked me to be his wife in the most special, unexpected and romantic way imaginable. I was sick that morning not able to get out of bed, but when evening came around mom came in and forced me to get up and shower. I kept thinking “geez why does she want me to get up and around so bad?” To my surprise Dusty had set up a scavenger hunt taking me down memory lane. Taking me to places that held significance in our relationship together. My last clue led me to the LHS football field where I found friends and family lining the stadium bleachers as I walked down to find the love of my life in the middle of the field ready to ask me to spend forever with him. It was the most magical and unforgettable night. Our life so far has been filled with so much fun, adventure, and laughter, and of course, times that have challenged us both. Through it all, we have become the best of friends and I can’t wait to say yes to forever with my high school sweetheart.
