We met in an Interpersonal Communications class at our first year in Community College the Spring of 2012. We didn't talk much during the semester but at the end we all exchanged contact information and added each other on Facebook. On the last day of the semester Kevin asked if I could send him the location to a grocery store where I got a whole coconut that I bought to class. After I sent him the information he some how saved my number as the grocery stores number. A year later I had commented on a post he had made on his Facebook about a country song, he privately messaged me where we discovered he had been texting the grocery store for a whole year thinking it was my number and that I must have just been ignoring him all this time. A few months later we became great friends, hanging out a few times a week, going on random little adventures but unfortunately I had a boyfriend at the time. After spending time with Kevin for about 6 months, I realized I was more myself with him than I ever had been with anyone else. I knew I was supposed to be with him and apparently he did too. He showed up at my house the very next day after he found out I had broken things off with the guy I had been dating, and the rest is history.
We went to Maui for our 7 year Anniversary. I had a hunch he was going to propose since I knew he wanted to do it in a big way and this was going to be our only big trip for a while. We had an amazing first few days, ate tons of Ahi tuna, snorkeled, went to a Luau, spent the whole day in Hana, hiked to a massive waterfall, walked the crater of Haleakalā Volcano and watched the sun set with a 360 view of the entire Island. All moments that created more suspense as to when he was going to propose. On our last day, I had given up hope that we were getting engaged. As we went back to our Airbnb, Kevin asked if I wanted to take some last photos on the private beach behind our Airbnb. After a few photos, he asked if I wanted to see a magic trick, as it started pouring rain. I thought this was really random and strange, but not too random and strange for Kevin to do so I went a long with it. I still had no idea what was about to happen. He asked me to think of a card as he unpackaged a sealed deck of cards. Once I picked my card he pulled out a 2 of Hearts from the deck and asked if that was my card. It wasn't, so the he said "I can change your mind...". He pulled a thin wooden box that he had made out of a box of playing cards as he got down on one knee and said "There is nothing worth doing, no place worth going unless you are there with me, you are my everything and I think it's about time I proved that."
The past 8 years of our relationship has been a great series of Miscalculated Adventures. We have endured countless sleepless nights getting Kevin through the Industrial Design program at Long Beach State, both of us graduating after many years in College, living in very interesting/dangerous areas in sketchy apartments, been on many road trips, taken our annual trips to Mammoth, traveled to Brazil, Spain, Portugal & Hawaii, added to our ever growing Star Wars merchandise collection, gotten through a pandemic without losing our minds completely & spent almost everyday of the past 8 years making memories and falling more in love everyday. We are so excited to celebrate with the people we love and that love us as we become Husband & Wife and start the rest of our lives full of laughter and many more miscalculated adventures!
