We met serendipitously in Charlton Ma in the spring of 2018. It all began in a physical therapy office of all places. I never expected a my workplace to be where I would meet someone who would change my life, but that's exactly what happened with Kevin. Kevin was recovering from a knee surgery and by luck I happened to become his therapist. At first it was mostly pleasantries and quiet banter regarding exercise and recovery. Then one day, Kevin made a comment about his weekend plans. He was heading out to a local brewery to try a new beer. I didn’t expect it, but something about his mention of craft beer sparked a connection. I’d always been a fan of trying new beers, exploring flavors, and discovering hidden gems. That question turned into an hour-long conversation as we compared notes on our favorite breweries, the best IPAs we’d ever had, and the weirdest beer pairings we’d tried. For the first time, the physical therapy room felt less like a place of pain and more like the backdrop of something new and exciting. Kevin had this way of talking about beer—not just about the taste, but the experience, the people, the moments that come with it. I could tell he loved it, and that passion was contagious. After that day, we started talking more. Every week, we’d catch up during our therapy sessions, diving deeper into each other’s lives. The therapy room became our little corner of connection, where we bonded over more than just exercises—we shared stories, laughs, and sometimes, just a quiet moment of understanding As weeks passed, we met by chance at Rapscallion brewery within Hyland Orchards. We bonded over what we liked, what we didn’t, and what we could have sworn tasted like a vacation in a glass. It was more than just the beer—it was the time spent together, the simple joy of trying something new, and the way it made everything feel lighter. Now, every time we try a new beer, I can’t help but think about that first conversation we had. From the rehab table to the taproom, Kevin and I went on a journey together—one of recovery, laughter, and the kind of bond that only deepens with time and a good pint We have decided to return back to Hyland Orchards to ceremoniously tie our relationship back to that starting point.
