They were introduced at the License to Cruise event downtown Appleton by Ryan's groomsman Kyle Miller and Kara's maid of honor Leah Jackson. After two months of "randomly" hanging out at Kyle & Leah's house, Ryan asked Kara on their first date, and eventually made it official on November 25th!

Kara was under the assumption her and Ryan were headed to his family cabin in the UP with Kyle & Leah, just to enjoy the beautiful winter views. Come Saturday morning, Ryan asked if she'd walk out to the lake with him, and after a long (impatient!) ten minutes of Kara getting bundled up and ready to go outside, they walked to the end of the dock. Ryan took her hands and looked into her eyes, and that's when she realized what was happening!
