Right in the middle of the accommodations and the wedding venue is Main St. in Plymouth. Plymouth is home to a New Hampshire State University and the cute main street is lined with small shops, good restaurants and a couple fun pubs. Kerry's favorite lunch spot is the downstairs of Biederman's Deli while Brad is a fan of Peek a Bowl for some Poke. The Lucky Dog and The Grotto are both great for dinner if you're in town a day before or after the wedding.
The Last Chair Brewery is a brewery located right in Plymouth only 10 minutes from the wedding venue.
The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a nonprofit environmental education organization located in Holderness, New Hampshire. The center's mission is to educate people about the natural world and inspire them to protect it through live animal exhibits, educational programs, and hiking trails. The center's live animal exhibits feature native New Hampshire wildlife such as black bears, mountain lions, river otters, and bald eagles, among others. The center's hiking trails lead visitors through various habitats, including forests, wetlands, and meadows, and offer opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitats. The Science Center is less than 15 minutes from the wedding venue.
This hike is one of our favorites. It is about two miles roundtrip with excellent views of Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee from the top! A perfect light hike with major view payoff at the end! The trailhead is about a 20 minute drive from our venue.
A great spot to grab lunch or a drink. Located right on the edge of Squam Lake you can't beat the views. You pass this restaurant on your way to the Squam Lake Science Center or to get the the Rattlesnake Hike! It is worth the stop! It is only 15 minutes from our wedding venue.
Meredith is a beautiful town located at the closer end of Lake Winnipesaukee to where our wedding will be. The town has cute shops located in the Mills Falls building, a fun lakeside bar and restaurant owned by the same owners as our wedding venue called Town Docks and a beautiful walking path along the edge of the lake to take in the views. Meredith is a short 25 minute drive along beautiful back roads from our venue.
Those of you who know Brad and I well, know we love a good brewery! This one has great beer, food and a huge outdoor area with lawn games. It is about 20 mins from our wedding venue.
The Flume Gorge is a natural gorge located in Franconia Notch State Park in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The gorge was formed by a glacier and is approximately 800 feet long, with walls that rise up to 90 feet high. Visitors can walk along a boardwalk that winds through the gorge, passing by waterfalls, boulders, and pools of water. It is beautiful and one of Sully's favorite wintertime hikes! The Flume Gorge is located 40 minutes north of the wedding venue at the base of Franconia Notch.
Located right down the road from Kerry's family's house, Clark's Trading Post is a family-owned and operated roadside attraction located in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The park is known for its trained bear shows, where visitors can watch black bears perform a variety of tricks and stunts! If you're in the area for the weekend and haven't experienced it, it is a must see! Lincoln is 25 minutes north of the wedding venue!
Not recommended for Friday before the wedding but if you are in town for the weekend 30-40 minutes north of our wedding venue you will find three of our favorite breweries. Attempt all three only if you have a designated driver! -Iron Furnace in Franconia, N.H. -Schillings in Littleton, N.H. -Reklis in Bethlehem, N.H. All are great to visit on their own and Littleton is one of our favorite towns with great shops and restaurants (voted Best Main Street and home to "longest candy counter in America"). Highly recommended if you have time over the weekend!
