We met at Disciple Camp, a church camp, in June 2013. As the week went by, we became closer and became more affectionately known as "camp crushes." By the end of the week, we decided to become "official," and while we were both in 8th grade and lived two hours apart, we were determined to make it work. The rest of the summer was full of plans to see each other again and convincing our parents to take us to meet at the mall for a movie date! Unfortunately, as life would have it, we decided that 8th grade was too young to handle a long-distance relationship. While we decided to stop dating, the friendship didn't end. We would continue to send each other birthday cards and often catch up at other church camps. As we continued to get older, we often shared our excitement to go to Oklahoma State University and how great life would be in Stillwater! In our first year at OSU, we sometimes planned to get ice cream and catch up on each others' lives. As the years went on, we strengthened our friendship, and by our fourth year at OSU, we were getting together frequently to hang out! On April 26, 2022, two weeks before we graduated from OSU, we finally decided to make it official! Not long after, we had planned to celebrate with our friends and family on April 26, 2025!
We got engaged on our 2nd anniversary in Stillwater, Oklahoma. While we both knew we would be engaged soon, it was just a matter of when and how. We left Oklahoma City and headed back to Stillwater to celebrate our journey together. We had dinner at Da Vinci's because we often reference it as our "first date" even though it was never officially called a date. After dinner, we went to Blue Spruce, one of our favorite spots, to get a sweet treat and catch up on our lives. Finally, after dessert, we went to Sanborn Lake to "watch the sunset." Sanborn Lake is special to us because we spent many afternoons walking around the lake and sharing our plans for after graduation from Oklahoma State University. After walking a short way down the trail to the clearing, Jonathan and his family had decorated, and Jonathan popped the question!
