Wedding Party

Kendall Schmidt

Bride

Scott Galpen

Groom

Emily Matitz

Maid of Honor

Kendall and Emily became friends when they were 5 years old through baton twirling. They both admit having stuck with baton so they could spend more time together. Not only did they become best friends, but their parents did too. While they've long outgrown baton today, Emily and Kendall have never outgrown being the next closest thing to sisters.

Michele Sauro

Best Woman

Michele (Scott's Best "Man") is Kendall’s soon to be official sister-in-law, although they already refer to one another as sisters. Kendall and Michele didn’t get to meet right away due to living in different states, but Kendall was warned about Michele’s endearing qualities. Kendall and Michele got to know one another and have found that they had a lot in common, besides their love for Scott. Both were coxswains at their universities, both like to eat and tend to eat fast and often off of Scott’s plate. Both enjoy Scott’s laid back personality which definitely is a contrast to their more energetic, outgoing ones. Kendall enjoys Michele’s humor and knows she will always have someone to laugh with.

Hanna Lynch

Bridesmaid

Hanna and Kendall met each other on the Wisconsin Women's Rowing team. At the first practice their freshmen coach, and Kendall's current boss, told them one of their future bridesmaids was sitting in the room. Not long after, still having hardly known each other, the two decided to sign a lease to be roommates in the following year. Little did they know, they'd become inseparable roommates, teammates and life long best friends.

Mike Kim

Groomsman

Mike aka Wuon (one) Tech and Scott became friends senior year while attending numerous high school basketball games together and heckling the other teams. Little did they know at the time, they both got accepted to Kean University. Luckily for both of them, they became hallmates and since then they have stuck together. Mike has become part of the Galpen family; watching football games, celebrating the Jewish holidays or going out at night to Princeton (where he usually knocks over a waitress or two). Mike is always there with a smile and a story. Scott was honored and excited to be part of Mike and Rebecca’s wedding and knows Mike is happy to return the favor.

Kaitlyn Studinski

Bridesmaid

Kaitlyn and Kendall began their friendship in kindergarten and have never looked back since. The two not only share a love for dogs, the outdoors, art projects, and soccer, they just plain "get" each other. Kaitlyn and Kendall were each other's side kicks through elementary, middle and high school. Although going to different colleges and living in different states since, then they have never let distance change their closeness as friends.

Ali Azhar

Groomsman

Ali or “Alison” as most of the boys affectionately call him is Wasiq and Omar’s cousin. Scott worked with Ali at Target but never knew it because Scott was antisocial & besides which, he was never introduced to Ali. The few times Scott was around Ali was when they were all participating in Hookah in Wasiq's garage. Eventually Scott invited Ali over to Sunday football at the Galpen residence. Ali is always there to lend a helping hand and has become one of Scott’s most loyal friends. Ali has also become part of the Galpen family & can be found at Mr. and Mrs. Galpen’s house even after football season. Ali and Mr. Galpen are known to talk at length about various topics & Scott appreciates not only the banter, but knowing his family is being looked after.

Juliane Surfus

Bridesmaid

Julie and Kendall first met in 6th grade Tech-Ed class. Who knows if the two girls learning to use tools as middle schoolers would be foreshadowing to both earning engineering degrees in college? However, nerd-ing out in school far from describes their friendship. They also danced in talent shows and did marching band together...ok that doesn't help their case. Julie and Kendall I swear are not nerds! They have stayed close friends despite distance, and Kendall couldn't share this day without Julie being a huge part of it.

Omar Ahmed

Groomsman

Scott only knew Omar as Wasiq's little brother & never really talked when their time overlapped in high school. Finally when Omar’s family moved next door to the Galpen's is when Scott and Omar started to talk more & formed a close friendship. Just as with Ali, Omar came over for Sunday football when Wasiq finally allowed it, Omar became “one of the boys”. Everyone soon realized that Omar is the smarter, better- looking brother with quite an appetite. Omar is a great friend to Scott, always around to chat, eat some food or be the driver for the crew. Omar, like his cousin and his brother has become a member of the Galpen family. He will visit the Galpen’s & even on occasion be seen having lunch with Mr.Galpen. Scott not only appreciates Omar’s friendship but his kindness to his parents.

Kim Schmidt

Bridesmaid

Kendall is lucky to have gained a sister (in law) in 2012 when her brother Zach married Kim. She has always looked up to Kim and admired the smart, funny and selfless person she is. Having seen the love that she and Zach share, Kendall only hoped she would find something as special. Kim is the best big sister Kendall ever could have asked for.

Zachary Schmidt

Groomsman

Kendall’s older brother Zach is one of the people she admires and looks up to most. He is funny, genuine and selfless, qualities she hoped she would someday find in a partner. The first time he met Scott, the three of them went to play foot golf (soccer-golf) together. Naturally they both got along and bonded through crushing Kendall at the game.

Katy Kroll

Bridesmaid

Katy and Kendall first met rowing together at the Milwaukee Rowing Club. They were fortunate to both go on to row in the Big Ten, at Iowa and Wisconsin, seeing each other often on the race course. Katy and Kendall grew even closer when together they attended U23 Rowing Selection Camps in the summers. In those pressure filled times, they were lucky to have each other to lean on. Their friendship has only grown stronger since their time rowing and racing together. Anyone who knows Katy understands that they will never find a more kind hearted and selfless person in their life. She is one of a kind. The whole Schmidt family considers Katy family...except of course once a year when the Badgers play the Hawkeyes in football :)

Anthony Sauro

Groomsman

Anthony is Scott's brother-in-law, but they call each other brothers. Anthony finally married Scott's sister after 10 years of dating. One of the first times the two met was when Scott's sister, Michele invited Scott up to their house in Rhode Island to attend a party. Scott was the star of the show that night, doing the worm down the hallway in the house. From then on Anthony and Scott had a close bond. Anthony and Scott both enjoy football, music and dancing, even if they have different tastes in teams and music, and both love to poke fun at Michele when they are together.

August Schmidt

Ring Bearer

Augie is Zach and Kim's son and Kendall's nephew. Before she met Scott, Augie was the one stealing Kendall's heart. Augie, at 4 years old, is the coolest member of either family and probably the best dancer too. He likes dinosaurs, transformers, and board games among other interests which frequently change.
