Things To Do

There’s so much fun stuff to do in Boston and beyond! Here are just a few of our favorites places (with a clear Harvard Square bias, we love it!)

Public Garden and Newbury Street

Boston, MA 02116

Walk the lovely gardens, ride the swan boats and say hi to the ducks before window-shopping and people watching along Newbury Street.

Freedom Trail

Freedom Trail, Boston, MA 02108

The Freedom Trail is a suggested walking trail (just follow the red line!) to see major revolutionary war historical sites and a terrific way to see some wonderful neighborhoods in the city.

North End Italian District

282 Hanover Street, Boston, MA 02113

The North End neighborhood of Boston has amazing Italian food and culture as well as several historical sites including the Old North Church. Get an Italian sandwich at Monica’s Mercato or a giant slice of pizza at Ernesto’s, pastries at Modern Pastry (skip the lines at Mike’s), check out Polcari’s Coffee and walk through the historic neighborhood.

Black Heritage Trail

46 Joy Street, Boston, MA 02114

Learn about the African American community that thrived in the lovely Beacon Hill Neighborhood and take a lovely walk through this historic area.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

25 Evans Way, Boston, MA 02115

An oasis of art and garden in the middle of the city. One of the gems of Boston. We would've had this as our wedding venue but they don't do weddings :(

Harvard Art Museum

32 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Terrific art museum with free admission for all guests! Ken recommends getting a French toast latte with an almond biscotti at the nice court cafe. One of Ken's favorite paintings is here by Dufy. Fun and bright!

Harvard Book Store

1256 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02138

Grab a coffee at Tatte and take hours browsing for books while Cristina patiently waits for Ken outside...Around the corner is a great bookstore dedicated exclusively to poetry called Grolier that is also worth a peek.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History

26 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Amazing natural history museum to take your kids (or your inner kid). Check out the glass flowers collection!

Union Square

Union Square, Somerville, MA 02143

Check out Somerville, where Cristina used to live when she was young and hip. Grab food and drinks at the Bow Market, try amazing Peruvian food at Celeste, check out Reliable Asian Market and drink beer and eat sausages at Bronwyn (where Ken and Cristina had their second date and decided they liked each other).

Boston Children's Museum and Martin’s Park

308 Congress Street, Boston, MA 02210

Wonderful museum for children next to an amazing playground!

Boston Harbor Islands National & State Park

191w Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA 02109

Great way to see the Boston skyline and coastline...from the many ferries that run regularly to the islands. Ken and Ashlyn camped at one of the islands many summers ago!

Middlesex Fells Reservation

4 Woodland Road, Stoneham, MA 02180

Looking for some nature? Check out this terrific hiking area just outside the city!

For all the days along the way
