Those of you who know this story may move on. But for those of you who don't feel free to read on. Let's go back 18months. The first time I saw Kem was actually on my instagram page. I had seen some of her posts and watched a few of her videos and I remember thinking Wow! Who is this girl? She was obviously beautiful but was also so funny. Beautiful and Funny? That never happens. I have to meet her. I was in Seattle doing a show and I was having a conversation about relationships (or lack of) with my friend Lizzie. I explained that there was this girl who was in the 'Wicked' tour and I thought she seemed lovely. Lizzie said my friend Andy is in that tour let me ask him about her. It turned out she was indeed lovely, so lovely in fact that she had a boyfriend. (Shame) But I remember feeling optimistic. 6 months later my friend Jye booked his first Broadway show. Wicked! And guess who was being transferred from the tour to the Broadway cast? Yep, the beautiful funny girl! (Serendipity) Jye and I met up for coffee in the coming months and I asked him about this mystery girl. Turns out that Jye and Kem had become fast friends. And she was recently out of her relationship (Oh really) Jye had said he had told her all about me and suggested we could all go for a drink together at some point but not yet. (Ugg!) More time went by and I had had to go back to the UK for work. I remember watching a video of Jye and Kem assembling furniture for Jye's apartment. I was in Germany at the time visiting my friend Anton. I don't know why I decided to comment on the video. I just did. "That is super cool. Little Jye's pad looks amazing. X" And she replied! "It's so nice :) He's living his NYC dreams. In fact, he was playing the 'Sex and the City' soundtrack while we were building furniture so...;)" (Smiley face with a wink...SHE LIKES ME!) We then messaged non stop for weeks. Until I finally decided to fly over to NYC and see if it was what we thought it was...and it was ;) -Tam
To finally get the chance to explore where the love of my life grew up was a gift in itself. The fact that it was also one of the most beautiful places I had ever been, was a bonus. When Tam took me to Ladies Parlour, I tried to remember if I had ever in my life laid my eyes on a landscape as magical as this one. Standing in the greenest grass that ever was, overlooking the town, the sea, the castle! It looked like something out of a fairytale to this American girl. On Christmas, as the festivities began to settle, Tam whisked me back to my favorite spot. Ladies Parlour. He laid down a blanket and played Diana Krall’s, 'Christmas time is here' on his phone . He then pulled out a flask from his coat pocket and woo’d me with sips of my favorite Whiskey whilst reminiscing on our whole journey together and what it’s meant to him. At this point Tam was doing all the right things! He then asked me to close my eyes and hold out my hand. When I opened my eyes there was a small box sitting in the palm of my hand. My heart started pounding. He asked me to open the box. To my GREAT SURPRISE, a plastic ring from one of our Christmas crackers was staring back at me. After a split second of confusion, we both burst out laughing. Somehow amidst the laughter Tam guided me to my feet as he bent down on one knee. Before I could put two and two together , he was looking up at me with a diamond ring in his hand. I remember it literally glistening in the moonlight. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. He asked if I would marry him and I said, “DUH!”. “Duh” was not my dream response to this dream question from my dream man, but it absolutely was honest! “DUH! I’ll Marry you, Tam Mutu!” -Kristen
