How We Met

March, 9th 2012

Travis and I met at a party back in 2012. I was visiting my mom in Boynton Beach, FL for my senior spring break of college and was introduced to Travis the first night I was in town. A few weeks prior to my trip, my mom called to tell me about her neighbor, Travis, who was the nicest guy and quite the catch. I told her I wasn't interested in meeting anyone, especially not on vacation! By the time my trip came around I had completely forgotten she mentioned this "neighbor". Travis and I met during the party and got to chatting, but I didn't realize that HE was the guy my mom was talking about! Travis only lived 2 doors down from my mom's house, so that week we spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool, going to movies, and just getting to know each other as friends. We really enjoyed each other's company but assumed it was nothing more than just a friendship for the week. The last day of my trip, we went to a karaoke bar with our parents and I sang my favorite song "At Last", I'll never forget the way Travis looked at me. That evening we both felt sad thinking that this might be the last time we'd see each other. After the karaoke bar Travis and I spent hours just talking and walking around the neighborhood. At the end of the evening, he walked me home where we had our first kiss! That was March 9th, 2012. When I got home to Michigan, Travis and I continued to talk everyday by text, phone, Skype, and even made a few trips to see each other. 6 months after meeting Travis I graduated from college and moved to Florida...and the rest was history!

The Proposal

May 27, 2017

Travis and I started out 2017 by moving to North Carolina on the 1st of the year! We spent the first few months cozied up in his family's cabin in Boone, NC while we looked for jobs and a place to live. During those months we spent a lot of our time hiking and exploring the Appalachian Mountains. One of our favorite hikes was at Grandfather Mountain, where we climbed half the mountain and reached over a mile high! In March we moved to Charlotte, NC where we live now. On Memorial Day Weekend 2017, Travis brought me back to Grandfather Mountain to climb the entire mountain this time! He found a great spot on the mountain overlooking the entire valley and mountain range, where he set up our Go-Pro and got the entire proposal on video! We sat there enjoying the view, and then Travis got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together! He even had a champagne bottle with our picture on it from the first time we hiked at Grandfather Mountain! It was the greatest surprise of my life and the most beautiful proposal I could ever imagine.
