Straight out of high school, Matt had a passion for serving our community and Blount County. In March of 2015, he had the opportunity to meet Kelsey through his service to the county. Kelsey randomly decided in March that she was going to join the fire department. This is how their love story begun. They started out as “just friends” but after several months of them hanging around each other, they finally decided to start actually dating on December 31, 2015. Matt became one of the few guys that broke out of the “friendzone." Their first date was to the movies to watch Ride Along 2, because who doesn’t love Kevin Hart? Matt knows how to play the guitar and sing which was the way to Kelsey’s heart. Matt always knew how to put a smile on her face and still does to this day. They would experience extreme highs and lows over the next few years, but always managed to talk things out. They have already traveled to different parts of this country with their families. From New York City to Las Vegas they love having adventures together. One of their favorite things to do is going on camping trips with their dogs. After, what Kelsey describes as “entirely to long”, Matt decided to finally ask her to be his wife on June 9th, 2019. No romantic proposal story to be shared but a very special proposal between the two of them in the living room. Kelsey was honored to say YES and she cant wait to walk down the aisle in a few short months. There is no one else that neither one of them would rather spend the rest of their lives with. We cant wait to start our new adventure as husband as wife! ❤️ P.S. life is better if you date your best friend!
