“Teach me something about Music. I love going to concerts and being introduced to new albums.” - Kelsey’s Hinge profile, September 2020 Challenge accepted! Their first date was on a dimly lit dock across from a construction site, on a quiet residential street. Kelsey was a bit nervous about the setting, but Covid was still keeping people away from public spaces… and besides, Eric had promised not to drown her in the lake. They had sushi and sake and talked about most of the things people aren’t supposed to talk about on a first date, while Eric introduced her to some of his favorite music. For dessert, she’d intended to bring a sealed box of cookies but instead brought an open, partially-eaten box, confessing that she involuntarily stress-ate some of them during the previous night’s presidential debates. Eric was smitten! The pair quickly created their own little Covid bubble, watching movies, taking long walks for coffee, and playing lots of Overcooked. Since getting vaccinated, they’ve been on lots of adventures, introducing each other to friends and family while making good on that whole “love going to concerts” thing that brought them together in the first place. Just shy of their one-year anniversary, Kelsey and Eric celebrated with a trip to Ohana Fest in California, where they saw Glen Hansard, Eddie Vedder & the Earthlings, Pearl Jam, Brandi Carlile, and Maggie Rogers at a festival on the beach. Two weeks later it was Sara Bareilles in Waitress on Broadway… then Lake Street Dive and Bon Iver in Atlanta… Lizzo on South Beach. And some shows closer to home: Billy Joel, Elton John, and even the Royal Philharmonic on consecutive nights, with the Royal Ballet and Leon Bridges. By the time the wedding rolls around, they’ll also have added Bright Eyes, Phoebe Bridgers, Florence & the Machine, The Strokes, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the list. The Post-Vax Adventure Tour (jointly sponsored by Pfizer and Moderna) has also included such non-concert highlights as waterfalls, volcanos, and whale-watching in Hawaii, Kelsey’s first time skiing in Colorado, seeing Christian Pulisic score a hat trick in-person during World Cup Qualifiers, Kelsey asking what a hat trick is, and-most recently-meeting Allee, their first niece. The couple got engaged on the night of December 6, 2021. With a 2-week-long Hawaii vacation just hours away, somehow the living room seemed like a better place to pop the question. Wearing sweats, eating leftover lasagna, sitting at the foot of the couch they’d spent most of the last year cuddling on during quarantine, Eric and Kelsey made it official that they're making it official! On December 3, 2022, the closest Saturday to the one-year-anniversary of their engagement, Eric & Kelsey will be married at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Orlando, FL. They hope you’ll be there to help celebrate their next big adventure!
