Due to COVID-19 we made the decision to elope. We knew that we still wanted to be legally married on the originally planned date: We were able to celebrate our love with our immediate family at an intimate ceremony on Whidbey Island. We look forward to celebrating with our larger community through smaller gatherings when we can gather safely. If you would like to see pictures of the small ceremony that we had please click the "photos" tab on our website.
We met at the University of Washington, bonding at a Starbucks while working on a group project for our masters program. Against our better judgement we decided to go on a date, knowing we would be working closely together for the next year. The risk payed off. Our first date was at a local middle eastern restaurant, followed by a picnic at Gas Works park and several months of secretive glances in class. We spent afternoons working on lesson plans, and weekends exploring Seattle and getting to know each other's families. In the past two and a half years we have studied, graduated, made it through our first year of teaching and celebrated milestones together. It was clear to both of us that the mundane, the extraordinary moments, and rough days, would be that much richer with each other.
