Bethany and Kelsee's Story

It all started with toast...

In the summer of 2017 they met on the queer dating app Her. They quickly bonded over their love of Harry Potter and other nerdy things. Messaging became texting, and soon texting led to a first date over coffee and toast at Black Dog Coffee House. They talked until the coffee shop closed, and then kept on talking in the parking lot. From their first date, it was clear that there was something special about their connection. They began spending every free hour they had with one another. On October 11, 2017, they decided to celebrate Coming Out Day together. They went to the KC Center for Inclusion to get their photo taken by the NOH8 Campaign, and then finished out the day with Drag Bingo at Hamburger Marys. Bethany won a round of bingo and the raffle grand prize, and (banking on her lucky streak) asked Kelsee to be her girlfriend. After months of spending every moment of free time they had together, the two decided to take a leap and find an apartment together that next summer. After one week of living together, and a particularly magical day at the lake, the two proposed to each other. They planned on having their wedding in October, 2020...but the pandemic changed those plans. These changes also took them to New Mexico, where they bought a home that they share with their two dogs and two cats. They are excited to return to Kansas in October so their 3- year engagement will finally end in a wedding ceremony on October 10th, 2021. They can't wait to share their big day with all of you!
