It was a warm late September evening when they both received a life-changing notification. And yep, you guessed it, 'twas indeed a match. And what timing, because Shanny was ready to swear off dating apps forever. She wanted to find the man of her dreams. A partner to build a life with. A person with just as many, if not more, lovable quirks than herself. And the dang algorithms had led to dud after dud. But then, the man they call Pan popped up. He wasn't terrible to look at. Had some personality. Seemingly wore a lot of hats. And did a stupid duck face in multiple profile pics. Yet there he was, a new Nashville resident looking for all the same qualities she was. So, Shannon overlooked the duck face, took a deep breath, and made the last first move of her life. Just shy of a week later came the first date and Shannon was, naturally, running late. So, Adam sat in front of the house for about ten minutes, thumbs a-twiddlin'. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a blonde gal dart out of the front door. In response, Adam quickly exited his car to greet her. But as he came around the trunk, he was met with a surprising greeting: "I'm not Shannon!!!!" Turns out, Shannon’s roommate beat her out the door. As Adam quickly recovered from the false start, Shannon pulled herself together, Adam brought the flowers and chocolates into the house, and approximately four minutes later, the first date was on. First stop, drinks, and a pop quiz. Shannon asked Adam about life goals, ambitions, kids (lots and lots of kids), interests, values, and the like. Adam passed his first test with flying colors, and the two moved on to dinner. Over a few more drinks and a lovely meal, Shannon and Adam began to feel like their match in the digital world was translating perfectly into the real world. As they made their way for a nightcap across the street, Adam decided it was time to pull out his best move – “The Move” as it’s infamously known now – and was able to secure the couple’s last first kiss. And folks, the sparks were a-flying after that. The two entered Urban Grub holding hands and with smiles on their faces. Shanny was a long-time regular at UG, and being the bubbly, welcoming personality that she is, she introduced Adam to the whole crew. The two decided to wrap up night with espresso martinis. As Adam continued to make Shannon laugh and the good times rolled on, Shannon ended the night with a splash – spilling a full “spressi tini” down her white shirt as more laughs ensued. The couple’s last first date ended with Adam very confidently inviting himself to Shannon’s housewarming partying. After passing the sister and friends tests, Shanny and Panny became nearly inseparable. Adam graciously accepted an invite to join the Kelly family Thanksgiving in Nashville just seven weeks later. He prepped perogies with Shanny and Keira the night before and danced the night away with Nene after dessert. He also became the “Dad That Stepped Up” for Shannon’s dear pups Watson, accepting his boisterous begging and constant need to lay in the middle of the bed. But most importantly, Adam was, and continues to be, always willing to give Shanny a massage on-demand – the key to her heart. Shannon quickly became Adam’s favorite person for many reasons. She showed the same care for him as she has for friends and family she’s known all her life. She helped him rediscover his faith and the joy of Christmas Music before the leaves change colors. She made some of the best meals he’s ever had with her unmatched skills in the kitchen. And she continues to be the most beautiful woman he’s ever met, from the outside in. Adam knew there was no reason to wait any longer. So, he proposed on Black Friday the next Thanksgiving, at the place he knew she was the one a year earlier – Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, where Shannon helped Adam fall back in love with the holidays. And this April, Shannon and Adam can’t wait to celebrate their love with all of you!
