We met both each other and some of our closest friends while at Penn, it will always hold a special place in our heart. Locust walk is a nice place to grab a coffee and wander around campus.
For a nice place to people watch, shop, or grab a bite to eat, head to Rittenhouse Square!
Just not from Pat's or Geno's those are tourist traps :) but there are places all over the city where you can get a good cheesesteak and then debate your favorite.
A family favorite is the Roast Pork Sandwich from Dinic's but there are tons of vendors to explore.
It is a requirement for everyone to see the giant bell with a crack in it when they head to Philadelphia. You can also take a very short walk over to Independence Hall and you can live out your National Treasure fantasy and see where the Declaration of Independence was signed.
There are a lot of museums on the parkway if that is more your style. You can visit the Franklin Institute during the day and have access to all the exhibits (a few will be open during cocktail hour). There is also the famed Art Museum at the end of the parkway, run up the steps or take a picture with the Rocky Statue at the base. You can also go inside and see the art! For art lovers, we'd recommend the Barnes Foundation. You have to buy tickets in advance, but it features a large collection of French Impressionists among others displayed in a unique way. The Natural History Museum is also fun and right next door to the Franklin Institute. Kelly interned there in college and it has great taxidermy, Dinosaur bones, and even some live animals.
Not for the faint of heart but one of Kelly's favorite museums in the city. A medical history and science museum it features medical equipment and specimens. A suggestion for people who like weird things and mysteries but not for those who can be squeamish.
