It all started with a blind date. Well, sort of… Kelly had recently moved back to Virginia after spending 3 years out on the west coast. She had no plans to move back east, but the pandemic made travel physical therapy jobs scarce and she didn’t have many options. Luckily, she had landed her dream job in Northern Virginia working alongside her best friend Melissa (MOH), making the decision easier for her. After a few year stint of living the ultimate bachelor life in DC with his buddies, the pandemic began shutting everything down and Bryson was ready for a change. He decided to move back home with his parents. Taking advantage of the work-from-home lifestyle, he got a puppy (Leo) shortly after. Not even a month into her new job in a new city, Kelly met Chy (Bryson’s mother). She was coming in for physical therapy and was usually seeing a colleague of Kelly's, but he was out of town. They hit it off immediately. If you know Chy, then you know that there was never a silent moment when they were together and they found they had a lot in common and became quick friends! It wasn’t long before Chy started talking about her family and her son that had “just moved back home” and her new “grand-puppy”. There were even times she would show Kelly pictures of Leo, but strategically Bryson would be holding him. (Kelly and Melissa would always have a laugh about these moments after) Several times, Chy would even casually drop in their conversation, “You should meet my son.” But Kelly would always quickly change the subject. With her time at physical therapy coming to a close, Chy decided to be more direct and asked Kelly to write her number down on the back of her business card. Kelly hesitated, but ultimately did it on the condition that she wouldn’t pressure Bryson to call if he didn’t want to.... Three long weeks went by. Kelly thought she had dodged the bullet of an awkward conversation. But then, he texted! Her initial reaction was to politely turn him down, but with Melissa’s persuasion she agreed to meet up with him that Thursday. He suggested Barcelona Wine Bar and Kelly was already impressed. (She loves wine) There she learned that his mom had written him a to-do list while she was out of town, with the last task being “Call Kelly”. Between their undeniable chemistry and Bryson canceling his plans with friends to hang out with Kelly that very next weekend, it pretty much sealed the deal. (Meeting Leo also didn’t hurt!). Three years later, here we are :) So as Chy likes to remind us all, she “swiped right” for us and we are eternally grateful for it. P.S.
