Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All three portions of the evening - the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception - will be held at The Vineyards at Chappel Lodge in Austin, TX. The wedding is primarily outdoors. Our ceremony will take place under a couple Texas Live Oak Trees. Cocktail hour is just steps away at The Lodge. This setting is an indoor/outdoor, courtyard space. The reception will be held on (more or less) an over-large, covered patio, just adjacent to The Lodge.

What's the timeline?

Our ceremony will begin at 5pm CST. We recommend guests arrive between 4:30pm - 4:45pm to allow ample time to locate the venue and get settled. We're kickin' off cocktail hour immediately afterward from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Then, at 6:30pm, we'll transition to the reception space. Dinner at 7pm and then we dance! Oh! And cake. Can't forget cake!

What's the weather like?

October in Austin can swing warm or cool. We're anticipating, and hoping for mid-70s. That said, we're prepared for whatever the weather may bring! The ceremony space is shaded from direct sunlight, there are indoor/outdoor options during cocktail hour, and the reception is tented. Said tent is equipped with fans and misters if we run a little warm, and we have space heaters standing by should things land on the cooler side.

What should I wear?

Semi-formal attire. We're not talking tuxedos or ball gowns! "Semi-formal" attire for an outdoor, Texas wedding. The venue is ranch-meets-vineyard, with a short gravel path to ceremony seating. Really, just please no jeans, flip-flops, etc. Ladies, I share the gravel path detail to encourage flats, sandals, wedges or a largeee, low block heel. Again, the weather could range, so consider a sweater, wrap, or shawl to have handy.

Where should I stay?

Answer

The million dollar question. We've shared suggestions on the "Travel" page here on our wedding website, but to be very clear, we do not have a hotel room block. With guests coming from both coasts, and everywhere in between, we didn't want to decide or "push" a certain location or price point. Everyone's got different preferences and budgets, and we want to be respectful of that. The wedding is in Austin proper, but on the south side of town. Our "Travel" tab includes hotel suggestions for downtown, South Congress, and even further South (nearer to the venue). We did our best to include different chains (we know some of you love your points and perks!), and different price points. That said, our wedding is the same weekend as the Formula 1 race. Things are filling up FAST, and pricing is slightly inflated due to demand. To keep prices out of the stratosphere and keep some flexibility with regard to location we HIGHLY RECOMMEND looking into Airbnb and VRBO options (or similar) and booking quickly. A few other suggestions to consider, especially for those looking to make this a long weekend or true trip: Texas Hill Country: Bet you didn't know Texas is a top 5 wine producer in the country! Texas Hill Country is wine country and absolutely gorgeous! Going a little further out for vino could be a good option for some. Depending on where you book, best estimate has you about 45 min - 1 hour from the venue and 1 hour - 1 hour & 15 min from downtown. Fredericksburg: Part of Texas Hill Country, this is a little further at 1.5 hours from Austin/the venue. Wineries all the way into town, this is where local Austinites go to escape for the weekends. San Antonio: Believe it or not, this may be closer than Fredericksburg. We can usually sneak down to San Antonio from our place in about 1 hour and 15 min (1.5 hours or so with traffic). South of Austin, another option would be to make San Antonio your weekend and come up to the South side of Austin for the wedding.

Depending on your answer to the above "Where should I stay?" question, this also varies. I know a few folks are driving (an adventure on it's own!), but airports are: Austin: Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) San Antonio: San Antonio International Airport (SAT)

How do I get to the wedding venue?

Answer

Understanding everyone will be booking travel and accommodations that work best for them, we will not be providing the traditional shuttle service. That said, we think we've come up with something a little more flexible, and will be posting an Uber voucher code here on the website the day of the wedding. For those more local to the venue, the code will get you to the wedding and back to your accommodations. More to come!

Yes! There is ample parking at The Vineyards at Chappel Lodge.

Can I bring my kids?

We have decided to have our wedding be an adults only occasion.

What's the food situation?

Answer

Delicious. That's what. Cocktail hour will include munchies, but the main event is true Texas BBQ. Don't worry my vegetarians, we've made sure to build-out robust options for our non meat-eaters.

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes! We'll have a couple signature cocktails, beer and wine options, champagne, as well as select spirits.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

No need! Our fabulous photographer, April, will snap all the shots. We ask all those attending to please silence your cell phones and put them away for the ceremony. That said, our venue is too, too pretty not to capture. Feel free to roam a bit during cocktail hour to grab some great photos.

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than Wednesday - August 31, 2022. That said, the sooner the better. We need to make sure we have enough of that Texas BBQ I was telling you about and stock up on beverages.

How do I RSVP?

Right here on this wedding website! We did not include traditional RSVP response cards to mail back. Navigate to the upper right tab and enter your name to locate your RSVP options.

Will there be a virtual wedding celebration?

Answer

No. We can't wait to be married and we want to celebrate with you all in person. We hope you can join us, but understand if you can't!

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Yes! You can find it by navigating to the "Registry" tab at the top of this wedding website. We're registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Macy's, and Crate & Barrel. Clicking on any gift will automatically redirect you to one of those three websites. Don't worry! That's supposed to happen.

Can I bring my gift to the wedding?

We appreciate you getting us a gift! Please do whatever is most convenient for you. Our home address is affiliated with each of the registry stores, anything you have sent to us will reach us directly at home.

Will there be any other events to attend during the wedding weekend?

Answer

Depends who's asking. Short and sweet, it's just the wedding! For immediate family members and our wedding party, we have rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday - October 21, 2022.

When will the reception end? Will there be an after party?

Answer

The evening will start slowing down around 10:45pm CST with an official end time of 11pm. As for an after party...go where the night takes you! There are no official plans, but may we suggest Rainey St. or "dirty 6th" for your careful consideration.
