Sometimes what you are looking for is right in front of you. For Kelley and Ben, what they were looking for was exactly 3 stories above them. It was the first warm day of Spring – a perfect afternoon to play some games with friends and clink a few beverages. A small group was forming on the rooftop at a mutual friend’s house just off campus at KU. Unsure of what he would find, Ben scaled the outdoor staircase approaching the commotion above. Little did he know, just up those stairs was his future wife. There was something indescribably magnetic about that first meeting. Kelley laughed at every joke Ben cracked and Ben couldn't keep his eyes off Kelley's smile. They both had a feeling this wasn’t going to be their last meeting. Two weeks later, Kelley invited Ben to attend her Sororities’ Formal. They shared many laughs and many more drinks. As they danced the night away, a special connection was forming. Throughout that following week, Ben couldn’t stop thinking about Kelley. He called his mom to tell her all about this girl and how much fun they had together. His mom convinced him to call and ask her on a dinner date. With a stomach full of butterfly’s and nerves, Ben made the call. To his surprise, she picked up. It would turn out to be the best decision of his life. Ben and Kelley walked into what would become their favorite restaurant – 715 on Mass street. As they sat down to a well-dressed table fixed with a bottle of wine, they started to talk and realized they almost had too much in common. Three hours at the restaurant flew by. The waitress informed them the restaurant was closing and asked them to leave. The rest was history. Five years later, Ben and Kelley met again outside the front door of 715, which was full of family and loved ones. This time, Ben asked Kelley to be his wife.
